Hernandez Consulting & Construction completed the construction of Jose May Elementary School as part of a joint venture with Ratcliff Constructors. Jose May Elementary School was a new 100,000 SF ground-up elementary school located directly across the street from Francisco Medrano Middle School off of Brockbank Dr. in Dallas, Texas. New work was comprised of site utilities, geo-thermal wells & piping, parking lots, sidewalks, drives, wrought iron and chain link fencing, playsets, play court, irrigation and landscaping. The new two-story school consisted of 190 drilled piers, a crawl space and pre-cast concrete hollow core planks with a topping slab. Masonry walls and structural steel frame the structure, including several pre-cast architectural tilt-wall panels suspended above ground elevation. The exterior façade included brick veneer, curtainwall systems, glass & glazing, composite metal wall panels and canopies. Decorative interior amenities consist of carpet, resilient flooring, terrazzo, quarry tile, sports flooring, decorative metal and glass railings, wood flooring and library casework. The school also included a multi-purpose/performance room with stage, a student dining area with a full food service kitchen, 50 classrooms, a library and several workroom/administrative offices.
