The Gulf Building & Hernandez Consulting Joint Venture completed a task order under their Department of Veterans Affairs South Florida MATOC to install a solar photovoltaic system for the West Palm Beach VA Hospital.
This task order was a design-build project to affix Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems to the roofs of buildings #10 and #13 on the VA campus. This project is “Net Metered” and tied to the local electrical grid. The system is designed to produce over 200kW of power for the VA. One of the critical design considerations comes from the additional wind loading and uplift because the buildings are in a high wind zone and need to withstand hurricane force winds.
