As part of a joint venture, Hernandez Consulting & Construction was the prime contractor on this project to design and construct the P934 Weapons Storage Facility at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, GA. Our team constructed a 58,000-square foot, single-story weapons storage and inspection facility. The warehouse achieved LEED Gold designation upon completion based on the preliminary design and owner preferences.
The proposed facility is a precast concrete structure with precast concrete columns, girders and double tee roof members with insulated precast wall panels with a cast in red face brick finish. The concept plan is organized around large span repetitive structural bays. Roughly half of the building is dedicated to the VNA Pallet Rack area for storing and holding weaponry. Interior materials and finishes will be heavy duty and industrial in nature.
The entire building is designed as a Level II Restricted Area for the storage and processing of Security Risk Category II arms. The project will provide Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) features and comply with ATFP regulations per UFC 4-010-01, physical security in accordance with DOD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards for Buildings.
