Design/Build Gym Renovation & Addition

Project Cost:  $2,240,450.00

The project included the addition of an aerobics and weight room and renovation of the Women’s Locker Room within an existing two-story fitness center. The addition is an extension of the existing building that is  strategically placed along the east end of the building. The roof structure is composed of steel joists, metal decking and a TPO roof system. The mechanical system is an extension of the existing structure’s current four-pipe system. The addition utilizes existing windows to bring in natural light. The current aerobics room was renovated into an expanded women’s locker/shower area. The renovation included expanding the mechanical system, a new steam sauna and all new finishes.

Design/Build HVAC System Replacement 
 

Location:  West Palm Beach, FL

Contract Completion:  June 2014

Project Cost:  $972,673.00

This project is a design/build project for the redesign and replacement of HVAC systems in the Computer and Telephone Rooms. The project involved increasing the cooling load capabilities of the system such that there are both systematic and mechanical redundancies available. This was achieved by using Liebert Dual Cool units which operate using either chilled water or refrigerant. Additionally the project is sizing the units such that if there one unit fails, the other unit can provide sufficient cooling to both spaces.

Algiers Point Apartments

 

Location:  New Orleans, LA

Contract Completion:  Projected-January 2015

Project Cost:  $1.8 Million

648 Opelousas Avenue is the adaptive re-use of a 15,000 SF former Masonic Temple into ten residential units. The project will be a combination of one and two bedroom units and is located within the Historic Algiers Point neighborhood on the Westbank of New Orleans. It qualifies for both State and Federal Historic Tax Credits. This will be a Design/Build project with Hernandez Consulting serving as the General Contractor and Albert Architecture as the Architect. We anticipate receiving a certificate of occupancy in January 2015.

Site & Building Lighting Upgrades
 

Location:  West Palm Beach, FL

Contract Completion:  October 2013

Project Cost:  $972,673.00

This project was to design/build upgrades to site and building lighting systems for a Medical Center. The project included a full lighting survey, to determine lighting counts and energy usage, to be used as the basis of the lighting design. The project was required to meet a minimum 5%-10% energy reduction for the new lighting to be used while still maintain the photometrics and lighting quality that was installed previously. Work was being phased to maintain operations at the Medical Center

Design/Build Medical Center Life Safety Improvements  
 

Location:  Miami, FL

Contract Completion:  Expected December 2014

Project Cost:  $956,000.00

Hernandez Consulting is currently working on a design/build project to address life safety deficiencies in a Medical Center. The life safety assessment will be required to meet current codes; NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2012. A designed interim life safety plan combined with an Infectious control plan allows us to work while the facilities remain in operation. Issues that will be addressed include vertical penetrations, smoke barriers, coordination of exiting through access control doors, completion of rated isolation of the trash and linen chutes, and tower food service elevators and dumbwaiters, verification of smoke damper and fire damper performance testing, and subsequent repair or replacement, and exit signage.

Mental Health & Homeless Center Renovation
 

Location:  Dallas, TX

Contract Completion:  March 2013

Project Cost:  $1,256,608.00

This Design/Build project is for an addition as well as a complete interior renovation to a mental health clinic. The existing structure was completely gutted including removal of the fire line and HVAC system. The expansion areas open into the existing area adding 1,500 SF of new office and multipurpose space. The 21 ton HVAC system provides zone controls. Natural light is provided through the use of windows and solar tubes. In total 4,000 SF of clinical space have been brought up to proper HHS standards while providing a comfortable place for patients to receive treatment and feel safe.
