Security System Design and Installation
Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, LLC (LOOP) .jpg)
Contract # N/A Private Sector
Location: New Orleans, LA
Hernandez Consulting provided security design consulting for the LOOP in the DHS’s Port Security Enhancement Program. Since the conventional CCTV systems originally installed were limited by lighting, distance, and weather conditions, refinements to this system created a secure open water perimeter around the LOOP offshore Marine Terminal (MT) by integrating the use of long range Thermal Imaging Cameras (TIC) into the existing DV-TEL video management system and the existing marine radar. The result of the combined systems integration will provide the LOOP security personnel with a 24 hour, all weather means to view any potential threats to the security of the MT from the open water intervention and boarding zone (10-12.5K) maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard through the monitoring of vessel movement via radar and viewing of the resulting images from these crafts created by thermal emission, to allow security personnel to designate this open water perimeter to effectively identify, track, and provide any necessary intervention to mitigate any threats.
